Bitdefender has appointed Frank Koelmel as Chief Revenue Officer for its Business Solutions Group, putting a veteran cybersecurity sales executive in charge of the company's global revenue strategy.

Koelmel will lead business development and go-to-market efforts across the unit, with responsibility for revenue growth and for aligning sales, marketing and customer success. He joins as companies face rising cyber risks, tighter data regulation and increasing scrutiny over digital sovereignty.

He brings more than three decades of experience in cybersecurity and software. Most recently, he was Chief Revenue Officer at Logpoint, now Guardsix, where he led global customer teams focused on expansion and retention.

Earlier in his career, Koelmel was President and General Manager of the Americas and EMEA at Cybereason, overseeing revenue and customer organisations. He also held senior leadership roles at Palo Alto Networks and FireEye.

The appointment comes as cybersecurity vendors respond to a threat landscape shaped by artificial intelligence, automation and more complex attack methods. Businesses are also under pressure to manage security spending while meeting growing compliance demands across multiple jurisdictions.

Koelmel is also expected to help expand partner-led go-to-market routes, reflecting the importance of channel relationships in cybersecurity, where vendors often rely on resellers, service providers and managed security partners to reach corporate customers.

Product focus

At the centre of Bitdefender's business offering is GravityZone, its platform for security, risk management and compliance. The platform combines endpoint protection, endpoint detection and response, extended detection and response, and managed detection and response services.

Bitdefender has also introduced PHASR, short for Proactive Hardening and Attack Surface Reduction. The endpoint security product uses behaviour-based hardening and threat intelligence to stop ransomware, fileless intrusions and living-off-the-land attacks.

Demand is growing for tools that can counter faster, more automated threats, while organisations are looking for ways to simplify operations as the security environment becomes harder to manage.

Koelmel echoed that view in comments on his appointment. "Organisations are struggling to mitigate growing cyber risk while controlling cost and complexity. They must also navigate evolving data regulations, governance, and digital sovereignty requirements as AI continues to accelerate both threats and operational complexity. Bitdefender is uniquely positioned to address these challenges with advanced cybersecurity capabilities that reduce risk, optimize operations, and strengthen cyber resilience. I look forward to working alongside our customers and partners helping turn security into a true business enabler," said Frank Koelmel, Chief Revenue Officer, Bitdefender.

His arrival also signals Bitdefender's intention to sharpen commercial execution in its business unit. Revenue leaders in cybersecurity are increasingly expected to connect direct sales, channel strategy and customer retention as vendors push for steadier subscription income and broader adoption of platform-based products.

Leadership view

Bitdefender's business division is led by Andrei Florescu, who highlighted Koelmel's background in scaling international teams. The company serves businesses and government organisations in more than 170 countries.

Florescu said Koelmel would play a central role in expanding market reach and strengthening partner ties. "Frank brings a wealth of cybersecurity expertise, deep market knowledge, and a proven track record of scaling global revenue organisations. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand our business presence, strengthen our partner ecosystem, and deliver high-impact security solutions that help organizations mitigate risk and navigate an increasingly complex and expanding attack surface," said Florescu.
