Nile names Srinivas Kavuri as Chief Development Officer

Nile has appointed Srinivas Kavuri as Chief Development Officer. He joins from Zscaler, where he was Senior Vice President of Engineering.

Kavuri will report to Chief Executive Officer Pankaj Patel and lead Nile's global engineering organisation. He is expected to help scale the company's technology as businesses reassess older network architectures and security models.

He brings more than 25 years of experience across networking, security and cloud software. Before Zscaler, he held senior roles at Cisco, Veritas Technologies, Mobile Iron and CommVault Systems.

At Zscaler, Kavuri most recently led development of a platform designed to unify multiple cloud services. That background aligns with Nile's effort to simplify network operations and strengthen security in enterprise environments.

Engineering focus

The appointment underscores Nile's continued focus on product development as networking suppliers respond to rising demand for systems that are easier to manage and less dependent on legacy hardware. Nile sells networking as a service and has built its business around combining network access with a security model based on zero trust principles.

Across the sector, companies have been trying to persuade customers to replace fragmented networking estates with centrally managed services delivered through software and cloud infrastructure. That shift has also intensified competition for senior engineering talent with experience in large-scale platforms.

Patel said the appointment reflects that strategy.

He also linked the move to broader changes in enterprise technology spending and architecture.

Career background

Kavuri's career has spanned infrastructure, data management and security engineering. He has worked at the intersection of networking and cloud systems for much of his career and holds a number of patents in cloud storage, data management and security.

He studied Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering at BITS Pilani in India before earning graduate degrees in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Iowa. He later held engineering leadership roles at several established enterprise technology groups.

His arrival comes as suppliers position themselves around the operational demands created by AI deployments, including the need for resilient connectivity, tighter security controls and simpler administration. Networking providers have increasingly argued that older architectures create management overhead and expose gaps between infrastructure and security tools.

Kavuri said that challenge was central to his decision to join the company.

Nile has been building its profile in enterprise networking with a model that packages network infrastructure as an ongoing service rather than a conventional equipment purchase. Its approach is intended to remove complexity and address security weaknesses associated with older designs.

Kavuri will now oversee the engineering organisation behind that strategy as customers weigh network upgrades against broader shifts in cloud, security and AI investment. He will lead development efforts as Nile expands its technology base and global engineering team.
