Richter has launched Richter Guardian, a managed personal cybersecurity service for executives, wealthy individuals, and families. The offering adds personal digital protection to the firm's advisory business.

The service combines continuous monitoring of personal digital environments with access to a Cyber Defence Desk staffed by cybersecurity specialists. The team validates threats, explains incidents to clients, and intervenes directly when a compromise occurs.

Richter Guardian is designed to address what the firm sees as a gap between corporate cyber defences and consumer security tools. Executives, retirees, and family members linked to business owners often face personal online risks without the support structures available within companies.

The service includes monitoring of the dark and deep web, protection for phones, computers, and tablets, vulnerability scanning, ransomware protection, and incident response. It also includes measures against impersonation and phishing attacks that can affect a family's online reputation.

Personal risk

The launch comes as cybercrime increasingly targets individuals through social engineering, impersonation, and AI-generated fraud. Richter cited figures showing that 81% of reported AI fraud cases in 2025 involved deepfake technology.

That trend has heightened concern about attacks that begin outside the workplace, particularly when criminals seek access to the personal devices, accounts, and contacts of senior executives or wealthy families. Such incidents can have financial, privacy, and reputational consequences even when a company's systems remain protected.

Richter said its approach differs from services that rely more heavily on automated support. Rather than replacing human judgement with AI tools or chatbots, Richter Guardian gives clients direct contact with specialists through secure channels.

"Today's digital threats extend well beyond the workplace," said Raymond Vankrimpen, Partner and cybersecurity expert at Richter.

"Executives and high-net-worth families need protection that reflects how they actually live. Richter Guardian was created to provide continuous guidance on their personal digital environment, while giving them a trusted team to help assess risk, prioritize what matters, and guide them through every step when action is needed," said Vankrimpen.

Advisory expansion

The cybersecurity service forms part of a broader expansion of Richter's advisory work beyond financial and business matters. The firm, which describes itself as a Business | Family Office, has built its client base around entrepreneurs, business owners, and family enterprises in Canada and the US.

Its rationale is that digital risk now overlaps more directly with wealth, privacy, and family reputation. That creates an opening for advisory firms with established client relationships to extend into personal cyber protection, especially for clients whose public profile or accumulated wealth may make them attractive targets.

Richter said the service is intended for individuals as well as families, including former executives and retired founders who may no longer benefit from corporate security teams. In practice, that places the offering in a market for bespoke cyber support between mainstream consumer software and the in-house protections available to large organisations.

The launch also coincides with a milestone year for the Montreal-based firm, which is marking its 100th anniversary. Richter says it has a 700-person multidisciplinary team working across Canada and the US.

"For 100 years, Richter has evolved alongside our clients, anticipating their changing needs and helping them adapt to increasingly complex challenges," said Tasso Lagios, Managing Partner of Richter.

"The launch of Richter Guardian reflects that same commitment. As digital threats continue to evolve, protecting our clients means looking beyond traditional financial and business advice to safeguard the people, families, and reputations behind every success story," said Lagios.
