Swimlane unveils new solution for vulnerability management
Swimlane has announced the release of its Vulnerability Response Management (VRM) Solution, targeting enterprise and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) security teams with an aim to reduce risk, prevent breaches, and maintain compliance.
The VRM solution is designed to go beyond traditional vulnerability management by integrating risk-based prioritisation, exploit intelligence, and guided remediation workflows. It centralises insights from various vulnerability scanners, providing a consolidated view that aids cross-functional collaboration and organisational visibility through a unified management console.
Shawn McBurnie, Head of IT/OT Security Compliance at Northland Power, highlighted the importance of prioritising vulnerabilities that have the most potential to impact business operations. "It's not just about patching vulnerabilities—it's about prioritising the ones that matter most in preventing business impacts and acting decisively to give security teams the confidence to stay one step ahead of threats," he said. McBurnie praised Swimlane for transforming their approach to patching and vulnerability remediation.
Swimlane's VRM solution, branded as Swimlane Turbine, combines artificial intelligence with human expertise, offering organisation-specific intelligence and data from more than 30 out-of-the-box enrichment sources. It includes a Risk Profile dashboard that provides real-time views of vulnerabilities, consolidating data to generate a personalised view of risks across the organisation.
According to Swimlane, VRM addresses shortcomings in existing vulnerability scanners, which often have vendor-specific limitations and fail to provide a cohesive picture of enterprise-wide risk. With VRM, security teams benefit from multi-scanner integration, connecting to services such as Rapid7, Tenable, and Lacework, thus offering a comprehensive view that goes beyond isolated findings. This capability is further enhanced by the VRM's integrated Hero AI, allowing security teams to query vulnerabilities directly.
Cody Cornell, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Swimlane, reinforced the solution's real-world applicability by emphasizing Swimlane's past experiences with customers who have tackled complex security challenges using the platform. "With the launch of VRM, we're taking everything we've learned from these real-world use cases and making it available out of the box for every organisation," Cornell stated. "This isn't just a product launch — it's another step in our mission to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end solutions that evolve alongside our customers."
Another key feature of the VRM solution is its case management application, which facilitates improved communication between security and operations teams. Integration with IT service management and collaboration tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and email enhances coordinated vulnerability tracking and management.
The VRM solution also includes an asset inventory system, centralising findings from all connected vulnerability scanners for more streamlined asset management. This feature provides an efficient system of record that simplifies the process of vulnerability management.
