Tines launches 3B to govern AI-generated workflows

Tines has launched 3B, an AI-native platform for building, running and governing enterprise workflows, applications and agents. The product is aimed at organisations trying to control a growing volume of AI-generated software.

The launch marks a shift in product design for the Dublin- and Boston-based workflow software provider, which rebuilt its platform rather than adding AI features to its existing system. The new platform is intended to address what Tines sees as a widening gap between the speed of software creation and the ability of IT and security teams to oversee it.

Businesses are seeing a rise in internally created tools, automations and agents as employees use AI systems to generate software with little formal development process. That trend has increased pressure on technology teams to identify what is running inside their organisations, who is responsible for it and whether it meets internal controls.

Tines cited IBM research showing that 77% of CxOs said AI adoption is already moving faster than current governance arrangements. It argues that this mismatch is creating operational and security risks as software spreads beyond traditional IT management.

The new platform is designed to let users describe a workflow or application in natural language, after which the system generates it using authorised tools, systems and data. Those apps, agents and automations can then be deployed across the organisation, with controls around credentials, execution and logging.

The system also provides a single environment for monitoring workflows, integrations and agents across different systems. Users can build directly inside 3B or use other coding assistants, then run and monitor those workflows through the platform.

Governance focus

A central part of the launch is Tines' effort to position 3B as a governance layer as much as a creation tool. Each workflow step runs in an isolated environment and is then removed, which Tines said prevents cross-contamination between runs or users. It added that sensitive data remains protected and that governance controls are built into the system from the start.

That emphasis reflects how AI software is being adopted inside large organisations. In many cases, business staff can now create applications or automations in minutes, while security, compliance and technology teams still carry responsibility for failures, data exposure or unexpected costs.

"AI has made creating software almost effortless. The hard part isn't building anymore, it's connecting that software to your systems, knowing what's running, whether you can trust it, and who's responsible for it. We saw that challenge emerging again and again with customers and started referring to it as 'Wild Code.' Once we understood the problem, it became obvious that simply bolting AI onto our existing product wasn't the answer," said Eoin Hinchy, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tines.

"We built Tines 3B because we believe enterprises need an environment designed specifically to build, run and govern AI-generated workflows, applications and agents," Hinchy said.

Customer growth

The product arrives after a period of expansion for the company. Tines said it has tripled its enterprise customer base year on year, with customers including Coinbase, SAP, Experian, Reddit, Notion and Mars.

It also reported a 124% net revenue retention rate, 302% growth in adoption of AI features and a 59% weekly-to-monthly active user ratio. Tines now processes more than 1.5 billion automated actions each week.

Tines was founded in Dublin in 2018 by Hinchy and Thomas Kinsella. It said it was valued at USD $1.125 billion in its Series C fundraising round in 2025 and has raised USD $272 million from investors including Goldman Sachs, SoftBank, Felicis, Addition, Accel, Blossom Capital and Lux Capital.

A customer account accompanying the launch came from Fin, formerly known as Intercom. The company said it is using the platform to let staff create workflows while maintaining oversight through its IT function.

"For years, Tines has been a trusted tool for our IT team, and 3B is an exciting step forward," said Emanuele Sparvoli, Senior Director of IT at Fin, formerly known as Intercom.

Like many IT teams, we think carefully about the governance challenges that come with AI - security risks, rising costs and shadow AI. 3B's governance and monitoring capabilities, including strong credential protection and access controls, were central to our decision to deploy it. We're a few weeks into our rollout and already see 3B becoming a critical part of how teams build at Fin," Sparvoli said.

Tines said its original platform, Tines Stories, will continue alongside 3B for customers running core workflows.
