Veraify has added token management to its AI security platform, giving companies visibility into AI token use across approved and unapproved tools as businesses seek greater control over AI spending.

The feature tracks token consumption across enterprise-approved AI services and so-called Shadow AI, showing how usage is distributed by department, user, service and model.

AI tokens are a core billing unit for many generative AI services. Rising consumption has brought costs into sharper focus for finance and technology leaders, particularly as employees use a mix of approved tools and unauthorised applications across browsers, native apps, plugins and developer environments.

The new function allows customers to analyse spending by department, service and user. It also separates costs associated with approved corporate AI services from those linked to Shadow AI, giving IT teams a clearer view of where expenditure occurs.

Veraify cited Goldman Sachs estimates that token consumption will rise 24-fold to 120 quadrillion tokens a month between 2026 and 2030.

Cost visibility

The tool is designed to help organisations identify their highest areas of token consumption by user, department, service or model. It monitors AI usage across browser-based tools, native applications, plugins and application programming interfaces (APIs), as well as integrated development environment (IDE) and command-line interface (CLI) workflows.

The token management feature sits within Veraify's broader AI governance and security platform. The system measures token usage and applies security controls within the same processing flow, including data protection and prompt-injection prevention.

"AI Tokenomics is now a board-level issue. Every enterprise is wrestling with it. AI has reached an inflection point, and executives are being asked to make adoption decisions without a clear view of the return. Visibility into token consumption is the foundation for measuring the ROI of AI. You can't manage AI ROI if you can't see your tokens. Veraify gives enterprises the visibility to adopt AI safely and decisively," said Prakash Mana, Chief Executive Officer of Cloudbrink, the creator of Veraify.

Cloudbrink positions Veraify as an AI-focused access and governance platform that combines monitoring and policy enforcement with controls for sensitive data and application access. The latest addition extends these capabilities to cost tracking as companies seek to link AI expenditure more directly to business use.

Spending pressure

Finance chiefs are paying closer attention to AI costs as usage moves beyond pilot projects into daily operations. Consumption does not always remain within centrally approved tools, making bills harder to predict and governance more difficult to enforce.

Unapproved applications can create additional spending outside established procurement and oversight processes. Without visibility into these tools, organisations may struggle to understand total AI expenditure or assess how resources are being used across teams.

By bringing approved and shadow usage into a single report, Veraify aims to help businesses identify spending patterns and improve oversight of AI adoption.

The feature is available immediately to existing customers.
