Vooban launches AI & cybersecurity divisions to boost adoption
Vooban has announced the establishment of two new divisions as part of its growth strategy focused on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
The company has introduced Vooban Labs, a laboratory dedicated to developing AI agents, and Vooban Cyber, a division focused on ensuring the cybersecurity of AI projects, including AI models, agents, and multi-agent systems. Both divisions have been launched to meet increasing client demand and to accelerate the responsible adoption of AI by Canadian businesses.
Vooban Labs
Vooban Labs will operate as an internal laboratory aimed at reinventing workplace processes through AI agents, which are described as intelligent digital colleagues. According to the company, these agents differ from conventional automation tools or generative AI models because they can interpret data, make autonomous decisions, operate with a degree of independence, collaborate in complex environments, and interact with humans to carry out essential tasks.
One of the initial projects under development is a multi-agent system designed to collaborate on the monitoring and reduction of risks within company supply chains. This system is expected to demonstrate the potential of agentic AI in practical, business-critical scenarios.
"We believe so strongly in the potential of this technology that we first designed a multi-agent system that has already transformed how we design and develop software and AI models. The impact was so significant that we now want our clients to benefit from it, and we plan to commercialize it within the next year," says Kevin Moore, CEO and founder of Vooban.
Vooban has committed to investing several million Canadian dollars over the next three years to support advancements in agentic AI and multi-agent systems. The company emphasises that every new AI agent developed contributes to strengthening Canadian intellectual property and the country's technology ecosystem.
Carl Chouinard has been appointed CEO of Vooban Labs. Chouinard brings more than a decade of experience in AI and was responsible for establishing Vooban's AI department, which the company states has become widely recognised as an innovation hub in Canada. Erin Kearns has been named Chief Operating Officer of Vooban Labs and is based in San Francisco. Kearns brings operational expertise from her previous position as Senior Vice President of Operations at Hyperloop, where she worked with high-profile innovators. Her role will focus on transitioning AI-agent prototypes into large-scale deployment while maintaining stringent security, governance, and performance standards.
Vooban Cyber
Vooban's new cybersecurity division, Vooban Cyber, is intended to address the heightened risks associated with the ongoing adoption of generative AI and AI agents. Vooban Cyber's remit covers the security of all stages of AI solutions, from design and development through to operational deployment.
"AI and cybersecurity are inseparable. With Vooban Cyber, we integrate security at every stage of our AI solutions' lifecycle, from design to day-to-day operations. This approach guarantees AI solutions that are reliable, traceable, and trustworthy. With AI agents, we are entering a new era comparable to the advent of the web, where cybersecurity will play a crucial role. In practical terms, we will help our clients prepare for cyberattacks, strengthen their cybersecurity practices, obtain recognized certifications (ISO, SOC 2, etc.), and automate their defense processes with AI agents," says Samuel Bonneau, CEO of Vooban Cyber.
The company identifies the integration of cybersecurity into the AI project lifecycle as necessary for ensuring the reliability and traceability of AI solutions. Vooban Cyber will also seek to assist clients in preparing for cyberattacks, obtaining relevant certifications, and automating cyber-defence processes through the use of AI agents.
Both Vooban Labs and Vooban Cyber form part of Vooban's strategy to expand the adoption of AI technologies in Canada, with an explicit emphasis on safety, governance, and intellectual property development. The company maintains that these initiatives are in response to evolving business needs and the growing importance of secure, explainable AI.
