Dayforce has launched Dayforce Build and Dayforce Marketplace, extending its human capital management platform with tools that let customers and partners create and manage add-on software.

Dayforce Build lets users create apps, bots and documents on the platform by describing what they want in plain language. Dayforce Marketplace is a catalogue for exploring, installing and managing those tools, whether they are built by Dayforce, partners or customers.

The launch is part of Dayforce's effort to help employers tailor workforce software without relying on separate products or lengthy custom development projects. The new tools run on its existing platform and use the same data model, permissions and approval workflows as the rest of the system.

Users can create software for business-specific needs, automate work with bots, and generate documents such as reports and presentations from prompts. Administrators will be able to review what an app can read and write before granting access, and assign it to specific roles or teams.

Platform extension

The marketplace is designed as a central location for pre-built and customer-built add-ons. Organisations will be able to review descriptions, previews, publisher information and version histories before installing a tool, while also managing access to installed software across workforce groups.

Another part of the launch is Build Academy, a training and certification programme for customers and partners that want to publish software in the marketplace. The programme is intended to help maintain quality and consistency across the ecosystem.

Dayforce also named a group of partners already building software on the new framework, including Aflac, Checkr, Deloitte, Emburse, Guusto, PwC and WorkBright.

In comments released with the announcement, David Ossip outlined the company's rationale for the launch.

"If you can describe what your business needs, you can build it. That's Dayforce Build," said David Ossip, Dayforce Founder and CEO. "Make no mistake - our HCM core is world-class, and we'll keep making it better. It's the core you need to manage your workforce with the accuracy and compliance you can't compromise on. But as work becomes more personalised, Dayforce Build gives you everything you can imagine on top of it - a first of its kind in HCM that gives you the freedom to shape what's uniquely yours in plain language, moving from idea to outcome in moments."

Dayforce positioned the launch as a response to rising demand for more adaptable systems in human resources, payroll, time tracking and workforce planning. It argued that employers increasingly need software that can change with business processes and workforce requirements, rather than forcing them to buy specialist point products.

Partner response

Deloitte is among the first partners building on the new tools. Its initial software is aimed at payroll compliance processes inside Dayforce, including SOX 404 payroll controls, variance reviews and sign-offs.

"Dayforce Build gives clients a way to extend the platform to fit how their business operates, complementing the native Dayforce experience," said Jen Capone, Payroll Workforce Management Leader at Deloitte Consulting LLP. "By pairing Deloitte's controls and transformation experience with live Dayforce payroll data, permissions and auditability, we can bring critical compliance workflows closer to the data they govern. For clients, that can mean less manual work, stronger visibility and a more efficient path to audit readiness, and we are pleased our first application is designed to help organisations manage SOX 404 payroll controls, variance reviews and sign-offs directly inside Dayforce."

Dayforce said Build is model-agnostic, meaning it can use different large language models for different tasks in the background. Bots built through the system can monitor work, respond to events, run on schedules and operate across Dayforce and connected external systems.

The document creation element is intended to produce branded outputs using templates and connected design systems. Dayforce added that its channels and plug-ins will let organisations surface Dayforce functions in other workplace tools and external AI assistants.

Both Dayforce Build and Dayforce Marketplace are due to become available in 2027.
